Description of Contents
Three Basic Kinds Of
Sheets
So you will notice three basic kinds of sheets. Parents Sheets,
Discussion Sheets and Work Sheets.
Parents Sheets
Parents Sheets have instructions and are your answer keys to
everything.
Discussion
sheets
These
are for if you choose to discuss vocab or ideas with your child. Your
child will check off the boxes, fill in their name, date, then these
sheets GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO showing the dates, topics and what you
discussed with your child.
Worksheets
These
are if you want your child to do some writing, or flesh out the ideas
and go into a little more depth. Of course these are named, dated by
your child and also GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO!
Reading
Comprehension
The
next section has a whole bunch of stuff on helping your child develop
reading comprehension skills. These skills will help your child be able
to always come away with AND REMEMBER the most important points from a
book. Again you will see Discussion Sheets which GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO
and Worksheets which GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO.
Note Taking
Section
This
section also has several discussion and worksheets to help your child
pull out important facts and information from a book. This and the
reading comprehension is APPLICABLE FOR 6 YEAR OLDS AS WELL AS 16 YEAR
OLDS! This will cement the important facts and ideas into their heads.
Of couse, this has lots of important stuff to be named, dated and will
GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO.
Final Book
Wrap-Up & Discussion Section
This
is an important part that’s always skipped over when reading a book.
This is where your child organizes the information they learned in
their brain. Normally kids just throw down a book when done. This way
they organize the throughts and ideas that came from the book, and
commit them to memory. Not a lot of time, but important. And as always,
these get named, dated and GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO!
Fun Pack
Each curriculum comes with a fun pack that includes educational activities for your child to play individually, with siblings, or with friends. This section comes with pre-made flash cards, creative templates for drawing and sketching, and more!
A Whole Bunch
Of Worksheets
The
last section has a whole lot of worksheets that are traditional
crossword puzzles, missing words, etc. One IMPORTANT NOTE about these
is that they are NOT designed to be overly challenging. They are
designed to be reinforcing! Lots and lots of studies as well as
homeschool practical experience tells us that the more your child feels
they are “smart” and can do it, and still goes over the concepts and
vocabulary and feels successful, WE ARE ALL SUCCESSFUL! So that’s how
they are designed. You will see them in sets of three usually. One for
each group of vocab/concepts and a third mixed one. You DON’T HAVE TO
DO THEM ALL. But you have them to choose from. Isn’t choice a great
thing. And of course, any that you choose for your child to do should
be named, dated and GO IN YOUR CHILD’S PORTFOLIO!
